Even though it may not seem like a top contender, Montenegro is the reigning water polo champion in Europe. They acquired this title by beating Serbia 6-5 in overtime. This year on July 5,2010, Montenegro played the US olympic team in California, in which they defeated the Americans 12-11; this became a crucial win for the Montenegro squad, being able to defeat the Americans which are a formidable challenge for the next Olympics. Throughout the game Montenegro was dominating, then in the 4th quarter the US Olympic team came back from a 3 goal deficit, almost being able to tie the game during the last few seconds, but Montenegro's goalie was too formidable a force to be able to permit another goal.

I always thought water polo was kind of a strange sport probably because I have never seen it played. It seems similar to soccer in the score making. It must be extremely hard to keep yourself above water like that. I definitely could never do that. Kudos to you for having the hard core stamina to participate in this restless sport!
